There are many other organisations that work alongside Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in animal welfare, many of which we work closely with behind the scenes. Here are just a selection of our friends in animal rescue and welfare.

Animals Worldwide has been established to assist in the worldwide endeavour to bring cruelty to animals to an end. It is clear from the reports of tourists returning to the UK from overseas destinations that there is a keen interest in animal welfare and related issues and that experiences can literally make or break a holiday.

Celia Hammond Celia Hammond Animal Trust
Over the last twenty five years former super-model Celia Hammond has rescued, neutered and re-homed many thousands of stray and abandoned animals.


Chilterns Dog Rescue Society logo Chilterns Dog Rescue Society
Chilterns Dog Rescue Society was formed in 1963 to rescue unwanted and homeless dogs and to provide accommodation until such time as permanent homes can be found.


Anim-Mates
Anim-Mates is a group of animal lovers, whose sole aim is to rehome animals, who through no fault of their own have found themselves without a home or family to care for them. Prior to being rehomed they are fostered by Anim-Mates.


Dogs Trust (NCDL) Dogs Trust
Dogs Trust is the new name for the NCDL (National Canine Defence League). Dogs Trust have always campaigned on dog-welfare related issues to ensure a safe and happy future for our four-legged friends.


East Galway Animal Rescue East Galway Animal Rescue (EGAR)
EGAR - Ireland's only Bull Breed Rescue. We re-home to the UK as well as long as the dog in question is not covered by the DDA.

The Mayhew Animal Home is an animal home and humane education and training centre


National Animal Welfare Trust
The Trust, founded in 1971, operates rescue centres for unwanted, ill-treated and abandoned animals and birds. Its Headquarters and London and Home Counties Rescue Centre is just outside Watford in Hertfordshire.

Since its humble beginning in 1824 - as the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - the RSPCA has worked tirelessly to promote kindness and prevent cruelty to animals.


Second Chance Second Chance Animal Trust
Second Chance Animal Trust was founded in September 1995 after the closure of the local animals home in Norwich. With this in mind SCAT started to raise money for a new animal's home. While doing this SCAT achieved a successful rehoming program, including vet and pre-home checks.


Swindon Swindon & District Animal Haven
After 20 years of trials and tribulations, the animal loving Warwick family have finally realised their goal and opened a much needed animal sanctuary for Swindon Wiltshire.


Thornberry Animal Sanctuary
Thornberry Animal Sanctuary was founded in 1988 by Stephen Bamford, who sold his home to buy the land on which the sanctuary stands; turning his childhood 'hobby' of rescuing and caring for animals into his life's work.


Wood Green Wood Green Animal Shelters
Wood Green Animal Shelters have three rescue centres in and around the South East of England. The original shelter where the Charity first began in 1924 is in a house in Wood Green, London.

Animal Care (Lancaster, Morecombe & District) Animal Care (Lancaster, Morecombe & District)
Animal Care, Lancaster, England, was formed in 1978 by a small number of dedicated people who looked after stray dogs and cats in their own homes. Over a period of time, kennels were rented and the number of animals increased. In 1987, Blea Tarn Kennels were acquired and then refurbished to accommodate 25 dogs, 24 cats and a large variety of other animals. The kennels were officially opened on the 19th March 1988.

Ashbourne & District Animal Welfare Society
Ashbourne Animal Welfare is dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of stray and unwanted cats and dogs. We operate from our own purpose-built rescue centre - The Ark - near Ashbourne, in Derbyshire.


Bath Dogs & Cats Home Bath Cats & Dogs Home
Bath Cats and Dogs Home is a registered charity based at Claverton Down, near the University of Bath. We are one of the largest re-homing centres in the UK with over 2,500 unwanted cats, dogs and small animals relying upon us every year.


Bolton Destitute Animals' Shelter Bolton Destitute Animal's Shelter
The Destitute Animal Shelter is a rescue charity dedicated to caring for the lost, stray and abandoned dogs and cats of the Bolton area. We have a non-destruction policy and are committed to reducing the unwanted cat and dog problem in this area by neutering every animal that we re-home.

Cruelty, neglect, accidental injury and sickness to animals continues today - and we are still here dealing with these problems.

Fen Bank Greyhound Sanctuary, near Skegness in South Lincolnshire, was established in December, 1997 by Sandra Miller. The Sanctuary, which obtained independent registered charity status in 1998, was designed and built by Shaun Hooker and provides comfortable and spacious accommodation for 28 dogs.

Greyhounds make wonderful family pets in the right homes. They have affectionate and patient temperaments and contrary to popular opinion, don't require vast amounts of exercise or food. Animal Concern (Bristol & District) Animal Concern (Bristol & District)
Holly Hedge Sanctuary was first registered as a charity in 1982, although it's founder, Pauline Leeson, has dedicated her whole life to animal welfare. Until 1992, when kennels were purchased and became Holly Hedge Sanctuary, Pauline worked from her own home and with the support of foster carers. Her aim has always been to provide a safe haven for animals until caring permanent owners can be found and this continues to be the purpose of the charity today.


HULA Animal Rescue
HULA animal rescue is a registered charity which was formed in 1972, and has been established for 32 years. We provide Sanctuary for Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, and other domestic animals until new homes can be found. We also have a number of resident animals including Goats, Pigs, Sheep, Cows, Ponies, and a Donkey who are permanently retired here.

The Labrador Lifeline Trust is a Registered Charity with an operating area of Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire, Middlesex and Lincolnshire. Our helpers are all unpaid volunteers and all money raised is used in the rehoming and welfare of our dogs.

Around 1500 unwanted and abandoned animals arrive at the centre annually. Dogs, cats and other small companion animals are found new caring homes while others remain in Raystede's care for the rest of their days.


Retired Greyhound Trust
For more than 30 years our nationwide army of volunteers have been finding loving homes for greyhounds (nearly 35,000 so far!). We rescue needy greyhounds and take care of them until appropriate homes can be found. We are the only National Charity which concentrates all its efforts on improving the lot of ex-racing greyhounds.

The Swan Sanctuary is a charity dedicated to the care and treatment of swans and waterfowl with an established reputation, not only within the British Isles but worldwide.


Greenwich Rabbit Rescue
Greenwich Rabbit Rescue is based in south east london, taking in unwanted rabbits and g/pigs.

All our dogs are strays. After spending a week in the local kennels with no owner in sight we try to foster what dogs we can or rehome them direct from the kennels.
