Breed Rescues
At Battersea Dogs & Cats Home we work with a variety of breed rescue organisations to ensure that the dogs that come into our care find the best possible new home. Here are a selection of the breed rescues that we work with.

Border Collie Rescue
Border Collie Rescue take in, care for, rehabilitate, retrain and rehome unwanted Border Collies and working sheepdogs. They also offer unbiased advice and information about the breed.
Home Counties Shih Tzu Rescue
Pauline started Home Counties Shih Tzu Rescue seven years ago. She joined forces with Carol five years ago, who had also been running her own rescue in Kent. They are different to many other rescue charities because they treat the dogs holistically where possible. As well as homeopathy, both Pauline and Lisa are channels for healing which provides a great basis for aiding unwell dogs to a speedy recovery.
Bulldog Rescue
We are the only official Bulldog Rescue and Re-homing service for Great Britain. Co-ordinated from West Sussex, we cover the entire mainland UK on a network of foster homes and volunteers, making sure that when a bulldog needs to find a new home we are there to ensure his new home is exactly the right home for him
Boxer Rescue - Lincs, Essex and Trent
Lincolnshire Boxer Rescue first started back in 1989 and were joined by Essex Boxer Rescue in 1999. In its first year they rehomed a total of six dogs, but in the first half of 2006 that number had increased to 140 dogs.
Akita Rescue and Welfare
AR&W; (UK) was founded by a group of 11 dedicated Akita enthusiasts who, having worked with other welfares or rescues in the past, felt there was a need for a society devoted to the rescue, welfare and protection of both the American and Japanese type of Akitas within the UK. They believe that most rescue Akitas make affectionate pets and loyal companions.
Bichon Frise Rescue
Bichon Frise Rescue are dedicated to the rescue, short term fostering and long-term rehoming of Bichon Frise dogs.
Boxer Rescue (UK)
We are an independent Boxer Rescue organisation, with no involvement with Boxer breeders or breed clubs. Although based in the North West of England, we have no geographical boundaries and cover the whole of the UK.
Mainline Border Collie Centre
Mainline Border Collie Centre was founded in 1986, during which time it has helped both owner and dog with handling sheep, basic obedience, problem solving and to understand the dog and relate to its way of thinking, plus countless other related topics.
Dobermanns in Need
Dobermanns in Need always have Dobermanns of varying age who are looking for good homes and loving owners.
German Shepherd Rescue (UK)
German Shepherd Rescue (UK) Ltd. is a Scottish based non-profit making company dedicated to the rescue, short term fostering and long-term rehoming of German Shepherd Dogs
The Great Dane Adoption Society
The Great Dane Adoption Society is a registered charity that rescues and rehomes Great Danes all over the UK. There are usually around 30 dogs in care at anytime looking for knowledgeable and loving new forever homes.
Shar-Pei Rescue and Welfare UK
A new organisation set up to rescue and re-home Shar Pei in need they are looking for Rescue shelters, Breeders, showers, trainers and pet lovers who care about the welfare and rescue of this lovely breed Shar Pei, to become involved.
The Japanese Akita Welfare Trust
The JAWT is the only Akita association dedicated to Japanese Akita rescue registered as a charity in England and Wales. The trust relies completely on the donations and sponsorships that it receives.
