Rescue

Battersea's aims (the four Rs) start with Rescue, and we've been rescuing lost and unwanted dogs since 1860 and cats since 1883.

Rescuing dogs and cats involves taking them into the Home, as strays or from their owners who are unable - or unwilling - to care for them any more. Rescue also means providing every animal with a high standard of kennel and veterinary care during their stay.

Here you'll find out about the history of one of the UK's oldest animal rescue organisations, learn about the work of the Home and go behind the scenes at our three centres. Find out from the people that work here what a day in their life at the Home is like, if there are any current vacancies and how to apply for a job at the Home.
