Vieri is a lively young Greyhound who was brought to Battersea by another rescue centre who had too many dogs, he was originally a racer so has never been in a loving home. Ideally Vieri is looking for experienced owners, experience or knowledge of Greyhounds would be an advantage.
Vieri will need all basic training from scratch, this includes housetraining but this is normally a quick process with most ex-racing Greyhounds who settle in to a home environment surprisingly quickly after spending their whole lives in kennels. Vieri is still young and will need owners to provide the daily exercise needed.
Vieri is social with other dogs but like many Greyhounds he can be chase orientated in play so it is advisable he does not live with a small dog, he could live with an adult female of similar size. New owners will need to concentrate on recall training, although Vieri may never be reliable off lead, a secure garden is therefore needed for off lead work.
Once settled and fully housetrained Vieri could be left for short periods, most Greyhounds usually love this alone time to find a comfy spot and sleep until you get home. Vieri cannot live with young children, teenagers would be considered that can help with his training and not feel intimidated by his size or bouncy nature.
Greyhounds are lovely dogs who really deserve a home to call their own after spending their early years in racing kennels. If you feel you can offer Vieri or another beautiful Greyhound a home please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443.
