Terrier Toby

Toby originally came to Battersea in August 2007 as a stray, he was rehomed but sadly returned after a few weeks as Toby couldn't cope being left on his own. Toby is stressed and anxious in this environment so may take time to settle and feel comfortabale being left alone in a new home.

Ideally Toby is looking for experienced dog owners, knowledge of terriers or rescue dogs would be an advantage. Although Toby is a social and friendly boy we are looking for a home without young children, we have no history so are unsure if he has been socialised with children before, teenagers would be considered.

Toby isn't your typical terrier in many ways until it comes to other dogs or cats, Toby is a bit of a grumpy fella and will not tolerate any rudeness from other dogs so will need a home without other pets, he has been tested at Battersea and is not cat friendly. Toby will need owners around the majority of the time prepared to work through anxiety problems.

Toby is active and intelligent, he already knows some basic commands but needs a little more work with his recall. Toby may be 5 years of age but owners should not be put of by his age, he is still full of energy and loves to play and go on long walks. In his previous home Toby was housetrained and traveled well in a car or bus.

Toby has just recently been fostered by a member of staff, so far he has been really well behaved and has been enjoying his time away from kennels. He has been clean in the house, traveled well in a car and settled well overnight when in his crate. Out and about on walks in the park Toby has been around other dogs without any problems.
