Tyson is a 6 to12 month old male German Shepherd cross that came into Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in February 2007. Alert and sharp-witted; Tyson is the perfect example of what happens when a smart dog is not provided with enough mental stimulation. Quick to learn and very trainable, Tyson is always looking for something to do and if not suitably stimulated will find alternative ways of amusing himself. A boisterous and bolshy youngster with little self control, he has shown himself to being quick to spot any opportunity to push the boundaries and will need confident handling and all round management. Tyson should be viewed as a "working project" and if new owners are patient and persistent, they will be rewarded with a great companion. Tyson will need:
- New owners will need to have owned strong characters before and have a good idea of how to manage them within a home environment
- A rural to semi-rural environment with fewer distractions for consistency in training
- Due to his behavioural issues and impetuous nature, Tyson will need to be rehomed into a household that has no children or visiting kids
- New owners that will channel Tyson's energy into constructive alternative outlets
Tyson will need some further training in his new home. To receive advice and guidance regarding this training from the Behaviour Unit staff that have worked with him, potential owners should be prepared to come into the Dogs Home for a minimum of two visits. Tyson is at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London. Please call the Behaviour Unit on 020 7627 7884 if you are interested in Tyson or email us on [email protected] and quote ref 2007/00713
