Shannon is a 2-3 year old Patterdale Terrier who came into Battersea as a stray in September 2005. She is a lively, sociable, friendly little lass who is bursting at the seams with energy!! Loves people and is very responsive to her handler.
She was referred to the Behaviour Unit for having a handling issue, mainly seen when restraining her. Shannon is not comfortable with being handled or restrained by people she doesn't have a bond with. She will scream and snap if they handle her too intrusively without establishing a relationship first. She has improved greatly already but owners will need to take things step by step with handling each day to continue to build positive associations.
Shannon is very good with other dogs and interacts on a nice level. She has been socialised with males and females with no problems. Can be a little controlling with some dogs if she feels she needs to be but doesn't take it to any level. She is extremely affectionate with people and loves one to one time with her handler so owners will need to have a fair amount of time for her.
Shannon is looking for:-
Semirural - rural location. She does need a lot of room to run riot and burn off some of that energy so lots of greenery around will be a must.
A small house is ok but she must have a garden area to exercise in throughout the day.
Not to live with another dog, Shannon feels more settled if she doesn't have to share her things with any other dogs.
People experienced with terriers (ideally patterdales) will be needed as Shannon has all the traits.
Not to live with kids due to her handling issues but sensible visiting kids of 12 + would be considered if experience of owners is very good.
Shannon is a cracker of a dog with a lot to offer someone. Once a relationship has been established she will no doubt make a super companion.
Shannon is at our London site.
