Although Scooby looks as though he's lining up for his mugshot ( and believe me, he's come close to being a most wanted! ) he was just intent on the small piece of kibble I was holding.
He is definitely an intelligent boy who possess self-control and dexterity however the sight ( or indeed sound of a dog's id tags ) sets him right off and he turns into a whirling dervish. Scooby can mirror another dog's behaviour quite well when off lead and socialising, all good if the dog is calm, not so if it is a bit hyperactive, but he is having difficulty keeping calm whilst on lead. This is leading to frustration and something that will need continued work in order to revert Scooby back to a calm, sociable and in control dog.
Scooby is an affectionate dog and enjoys his creature comforts however he can still be boisterous including getting over-excited at times and jumping up.
We are looking for an experienced home with people who have knowledge of the Dobermann breed. A calm, not overly interactive, older female could be a good match of dog for Scooby but anything else will not be suitable. He cannot live with cats or children and will need a semi-rural environment away from a highly populated dog area, plus a nice big garden ( ok Scooby, leave the typing to me! )
With dedication and advice from the Battersea team, Scooby has a very good chance of settling back into home life.
