Monty came into Battersea Dogs & Cats Home as a stray in June 2006. He is a neutered male Jack Russell Terrier cross who is about 6 years years old. He is an affectionate little dog who takes a while to get to know you before he becomes interactive. His general character is that of a typical older male terrier in that he can be quite intolerant at times if not given the space he needs. Monty was referred to the Behaviour Unit in order to investigate his frustration levels in kennels.
Monty is currently being fostered to help reduce his frustration, he has setttled well in his foster home and his anxieties have reduced. He is still avaliable for rehoming as he is looking for a permanent home.
Monty is looking for:
- Owners who have experience of mature characters
- A semi-rural or rural environment as he does not like traffic & tries to avoid it
- An adult household without any children although experienced older teens maybe considered
- Monty could live with a mature male or female but they would need to be very laid back and mature
- Monty will need minimal leaving hours to begin with
- Fully housetrained
- Travels well
- Has learnt some new commands.
An older dog that is well balanced but can be very set in his ways, Monty will need owners that are aware of this and be prepared to accept him for what he is. Monty will make an interesting companion in the right environment.
Monty is at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, London. Please call the Behaviour Unit on 020 7627 7884 if you are interested in Monty or email us on [email protected] and quote ref 2006/03087 Monty will need some further training in his new home. To recieve advice and guidence regarding this training from the Behaviour Unit staff that have worked woth him, potential owners should be prepared to come into the Dogs home for a minimum of two visits.
