Martin

Martin was brought to Battersea as a stray so we have no information about his past, he is still only a young dog and in experienced hands will make a great addition. Patterdale Terriers are essentially a working dog, they were bred to hunt foxes and other animals classed as vermin, due to this most Patterdales have high energy levels and a strong prey-drive so any new owner must be prepared for this side of the breed.

Martin is friendly and affectionate but he is definately not a lapdog companion, he is full of energy and will need active outdoor loving owners to provide the mental and physical work needed to keep him happy. Unfortunately Martin has had no training, this may include housetraining so owners will need to dedicate time to this intitally. Once settled and if given plenty of stimulation Martin could be left for short periods, he ideally needs owners around the majority of the time.

Due to strong breed traits Martin cannot live with cats or other small pets unless they are caged and can be kept away from him, Martin has a high desire to hunt small animals and this may include your beloved pet hamster. Martin is social with other dogs, he can be excitable at times but overall mixes well with both males and females, he could live with other dogs if they were the right match. Due to his unknown history Martin cannot live with young children, experienced sensible older children may be considered.
