Millie is a female 7 to 10 year old Tibetan terrier cross that was brought into Battersea by her previous owners in August 2007. Although she may appear cute and cuddly, Millie is a little madam who sees everyone else as being completely beneath her and so likes things done on her terms. She does have a certain amount of 'little dog' attitude', which new owners will need to get along with. Once she has formed a bond with you she does become interactive and friendly but will always retain her independent edge. Owners will need to be realistic as to their expectations because if they are looking for a "pamper pet" then Millie will not do! She has spent some time with the Behaviour Unit in order for us to investigate her general character, especially her issues with formal handling and her reactions when meeting new people.
Millie will need:
- Owners that have experience with wilful "precious" characters and have a sound understanding of how to maintain them within a household.
- Ideally owners will have owned female toy breeds before and understand their complex characters.
- Millie will need to be rehomed into an adult only household with no visiting young kids due to her handling and stranger issues. Older teens that have experience with similar dogs would be considered.
- Millie will need to be rehomed into a quiet semi to rural quiet environment.
- Due to Millie's' vocal nature she will need to be rehomed into a house as opposed to a flat.
- Unfortunately Millie cannot live with another dog.
- Owners who are prepared to listen to advice and are willing to follow an ongoing training programme.
- Millie could live with a stable mature non-interactive cat.
