Jessie is a female Golden Retriever who came to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in July as a stray. She is approximately 4 years old. Not your average giggly, bouncy Retriever, Jessie likes her own space and is not overly interactive. Although Jessie may appear initially submissive and shy, she is in fact a confident dog who has the ability to use these behaviours to manipulate people and take advantage of situations. She was referred to the Behaviour Unit in order for the team to investigate these behaviours further.
Jessie is looking for:
- Owners who have had experience of strong-minded, stubborn dogs before
- Jessie will need a house with a fairly spacious garden so that she can take herself away if she needs to
- Owners who are patient and prepared to put the time and effort into the training that Jessie will need. They must also be prepared to follow advice from the Behaviour Unit
- Jessie would be best suited to a quiet, adult-only household due to her handling issues. Unfortunately she cannot live with kids, visiting kids or teens
- Jessie could live with a non-intrusive, outdoors type cat that is fairly independent
- Jessie will need to be rehomed into a single dog environment, as she is not that interested in other dogs and can become easily uncomfortable in their presence. Her local exercise areas and parks should also preferably be low-dog populated
