Jamie is a 1 year old Staffie cross Collie looking for his fourth home, this will be his second visit to Battersea through no fault of his own. Jamie is a cheeky and manipulative youngster needing guidance, what a mixture- Collie and Staffie, owners will have their hands full with this one and they will need to be patient and dedicated. Jamie can initially be unsure in new situations or with strangers but grows in confidence quickly, he is a boisterous and live life to the full kind of dog. He is not for the faint hearted or for less active owner, Jamie need owners to match his energy levels so they can keep up and provide the stimulation needed. (As you can see from his pictures he doesn't sit still for long) Jamie is looking for experienced rescue dog owners or people that have owned Collies, Bull breeds or similar high energy types so will understand what they are going home with, he will not be an easy dog but will be a rewarding challenge. Jamie cannot be left for long periods, he has been destructive in the past which could be boredom or anxiety related so he will need owners who are around the majority of the day. Jamie cannot live with children, he is too boisterous and needs confident handling. Older teenagers would be consider if experienced with dogs and won't be intimidated by his hooligan ways. Jamie is totally obsessed by tennis balls and could play all day, he would excel and enjoy participating in dog sports like flyball or agility once he has had some basic training. In his previous home Jamie was housetrained and travelled well in a car. Having Collie and Staffie in him Jamie is highly intelligent, he is very trainable and willing to work for rewards if you can keep him interested. Further training is needed, particularly recall work as Jamie loves to play 'catch me if you can' games once off lead but can also be very chase orientated with people and other animals. Jamie is social with other dogs but can be a bull in a china shop, he loves rough games like most staffies do but also loves to chase and nip like most Collies. He cannot live with another dog at present as he needs one to one work, he may be ok to live with another dog in the future. Unknown if compatible with cats will require testing, due to his general behaviour we feel he probably would not be very good around cats. In the right environment Jamie will blossom but owners must be patient and put the work in first, he has so much potential and will be very fun to have around. If you feel you have the energy and time to devote to this youngster then please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443.
