Jakarr when he came into us had some problems with toy and food possession as well as an intolerance of some types of handling. Jakarr will definitely be a real challenge for his new owners, he can be demanding, pushy and generally self-assured. He is a strong male who defiantly has a mind of his own and generally thinks of himself as a bit of a dude! He is very receptive to training but any potential owner will need to be prepared for the amount of time this will involve.
So why take on such a challenge?
Jakarr will form an excellent bond with an owner who has the time and experience to work through his problems. He will make a loyal highly entertaining companion for his new owners.
What does Jakarr need from a new home?
He is looking for a home in a quiet area with access to large local exercise areas. These areas should also have a low dog population, as Jakarr tends to have a rather high opinion of him around other dogs!
He is not suited to living in a very built up environment. There must be a secure garden for exercise and training.
Unfortunately he cannot live with children due to his possession issues. Jakarr does get along with most other dogs after a time but can get quite possessive of attention around people, which would cause friction in a household with another dog. For this reason he will need to go to a household where he will be the only dog. Due to his strength and the nature of his problems, Jakarr needs to live with owners who have experience of owning large breeds such as Dobermans and Rottweiler. Ideally potential owners should also have experience of owning strong, confident males like Jakarr before.
