Isabelle is a 6 to 12 months old female Collie cross who came to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in July 2007 as a stray.
A manic, hyper little lady, she has found it hard to adjust to a busy, noisy kennel environment. She has shown herself to being very sound sensitive within the Home.
She is very worried by certain noises (trains, phones ringing) and does become very stressed when exposed to these types of stimulus for long periods of time.
However, she has the potential to settle down in the right environment, although she will always retain an anxious side on her.
Extremely perceptive, she responds well to people and will build a very close relationship with her owners.
Typical Border Collie, she has lots of energy, and a very sharp mind, and will need to be provided with the right kind of stimulation.
Isabelle is looking for:
- Owners who have a good experience of Collie types
- Active but calm owners who will enjoy fun activities such as retrieve and search games
- Owners who have the time to invest in her training and are prepared to take on advise from the Behaviour Unit
- Isabelle would be best suited to an adult only household where she would be able to get the consistency in training that she requires, experienced older teens would be considered
- Isabelle would benefit of living with laid back and mature dog or dogs
- Isabelle will need a large house with a garden in a quiet semi rural or rural environment due to her sound sensitivity
Isabelle will need some further training in her new home.
To receive advice and guidance regarding this training from the Behaviour Unit staff that have worked with her, potential owners should be prepared to come into the Dogs Home for a minimum of two visits.
