Presently Battersea Dogs and Cats Home has a large amount of Patterdale and Parson type terriers who are looking for specialised homes. We are looking for terrier enthusiasts who have knowledge of living with the breed complimented by an appreciation of their confident and feisty characters.

Although each dog has his or her individual needs Battersea dogs and Cats home look for standard criteria

• Generally terriers need clear boundaries and ground rules and for this reason they are not suitable to live with young children, older children will be considered depending on the experience of the adult owners.
  


• Potential owners must have previous experience of owning terriers and have the time to initially structuring a routine and training.  
  


• Due to many terriers hunting instinct many of them will not be suitable to live with cats or other small pets. Depending on each dogs character some may be suitable to live with other dogs but we would recommend that the other dog(s) should not have any severe behavioural issues
  


• Despite their size terriers are very active and require a reasonable sized house and a garden is a must. More suited to a rustic country environment terriers can get frustrated and overwhelmed in busy urban locations.
