Foster is an 8 month old German Shepherd Cross, he arrived at Battersea in December 05 as his owner could no longer cope with him. Foster is a large puppy and has the potential to grow a lot more so needs a home to accommodate his current and potential size. Being a young juvenile dog Foster can be boisterous and strong, he will need owners who can cope with his size and strength. He is an active dog and will require owners to match so can provide the mental and physical exercise needed to keep him happy.
Foster is looking for owners who have owned large or giant breeds before so will know what to expect and understand his needs which will differ from a small breed. Unknown if compatible with cats, will require testing. Social and playful with other dogs, could potentially live with another dog but a mature female only. (Not elderly or small dog e.g.- chihuahua)
Foster is very clingy and tends to bond very quickly, he does suffer from separation anxiety and therefore he cannot be left alone for long to begin with. New owners must be prepared to work on his anxiety problems and what comes with, in his previous home Foster barked, howled, messed and chewed when left on his own. Due to this we advise Foster does not live in a rented property and ideally lives in a detached property where he does not annoy the neighbours while he is settling in.
Foster is a strong dog, due to this he can only live with older teenagers who can help with his training and deal with his size etc. Having a medium length coat Foster will need regular grooming to keep him looking lovely, owners must be happy for this and the moulting. Foster is a great dog, he will make you smile on a daily basis with his goofy antics but owners will also need patience and understanding.
