Dandy is a 1-2 year old Mongrel who came into Battersea back in May 2005 as a stray. Dandy is a great little dog but do not be fooled by the floppy-eared Disney appearance, this is one crafty, manipulative little dog! He will be great fun with the right owners but has the potential to be an absolute nightmare in the wrong home. He was referred to the Behaviour Unit for Possession issues. He tends to get possessive over objects he picks up inside the house and out and about. Because this is fairly random he will need a careful approach when working through his issues. He is good with other dogs and has some nice play behaviours. However he can be pushy and sometimes randy if he realises that the other dog isn't strong enough to put him in his place. Dandy is looking for:
- Semi rural with access to some quiet exercise areas so that his training can be worked on without too many distractions.
- He could live with a mature female who would be interactive but who will also establish some ground rules.
- Must have a garden for exercise, housetraining and time out. He can be vocal for attention and so neighbours should be considered.
- Potential owners must have owned dogs before (not just family experience) and experience of terriers or other intelligent, stubborn breed types would be idea.
- No children due to possession and would recommend adult only household unless there are experienced older teens who are really keen to be involved with working on him.
- Ok for experienced single carer.
- A real little character with loads of potential in the right hands.
