Billy is a lovely ex-racing Greyhound who was brought in to Battersea as his elderly owner couldn't cope with his strength. He has recently finished his racing career so can be chase orientated around other animals and very excitable if he see's squirrels, rabbits or cats etc. Ideally Billy needs dog owners who have owned Greyhounds or similar sighthound breeds but this is not essential, he will just need understanding and patience. Spending the majority of his life so far in kennels Billy may take some time to settle in a home environment and he possibly needs housetraining. Most ex-racing Greyhounds are usually quick to settle and be clean but owners will need to put the time in to their training initially. Billy is a beautiful and loving natured dog, he will make an affectionate companion and will be a joy to own. Ideally Billy cannot live with young children, he needs a home with teenagers as he can be very scatty and jump up out of excitement. Billy is social with other dogs and he could live with another female but it will need to be of a similar size or type. Small and fast moving dogs can get him excited like rabbits so he may not be able to have lots of off lead exercise in the local park. Billy only needs 2-3 twenty minute walks a day, he is used to lead walks and is generally well mannered on lead. Needs a secure garden to give him an area to run around in and play games off lead. If you feel you can offer this gorgeous dog the home he deserves after his racing life please contact the rehoming team at Old Windsor on 01784 494443.
