Bentley is an 18 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback Cross, he arrived back in October 05 as his owners lived in a small flat and felt it was unfair on him. He was rehomed in January 06 but was sadly returned after a few days as his new owners found him too strong and energetic.

Bentley is an intelligent and active youngster who loves to run and play, he is a strong dog but walks really well on a dog headcollar which we advise new owners to use when walking him until he is fully trained. He already knows a few basic commands but does require further training which should be easy as he is a quick learner and has good motivations.

In his previous home Bentley was housetrained but not totally comfortable travelling in a car. In his first home he was anxious when being left alone and was occasionaly destructive, new owners must be around most of the day to help teach him to be left for longer periods. While he has been at Battersea, Bentley has been crate trained and is happy to be left for short periods once he has had a good run. (We advise new owners continue with the use of a cage during the settling in period.)

With his endless energy, intelligence and strength we are looking for active and strong owners who can keep up with him and provide what he needs. Bentley does need owners who have owned large dogs before so will understand what he is all about. As Bentley is boisterous and strong he cannot live with young children, he ideally needs a calm and consistent adult household. Bentley is social with other dogs and could possibly live with another dog but must be the right match and a tolerant dog as Bentley is a bit of a teenage hooligan at the moment. Due to his breed type Bentley is chase oreintated therefore he cannot live with cats and ideally needs to live in a semi-rural or rural location.
