Here at Brands Hatch we have two sides to the lovely Ziggy. At first we could not get near her, so we put her into a "chill-out" room, which changed her into the cat we think will be the cat you take home. She became confident and very friendly, simply lapping up any attention, she would rub all around us and sit next to us, and you could stroke her all day long. She loved to play, especially with fishing rod toys, which should be encouraged as when she plays she gets rather excited and if allowed will happily use your fingers as a toy!. She even allowed us to groom her with a zoom groom which was a great way to bond with her. She simply changed into a rather sweet settled little cat. As she is a stray we do not know if she will be a lap cat, but does love to lay near you, so this may come if she is allowed to decide if she wants to be a lap cat or not. She is however definately not a teddy bear, and will not tolerate being cuddled. The second side to Ziggy is the one you will see in our cattery, as she is now up for sales, she has gone back into a pen Here she is still friendly but she can be quite rude. She often turns her back on people that come to visit her, and takes herself off to her bed!! This is simply down to the fact that there is lots of people walking around, and the dogs barking alot, it is quite clear in her body language that she is very tense in the cattery, but getting her into a new home will do wonders for her. She simply cannot completely relax in her pen. The staff are not worried about this behaviour as we have seen a better side to ziggy and we do believe it is just down to everything going on around her. Ziggy is ready for her new home and is looking for the following:
- Semi-rural environment
- Active but quiet household
- Single or Multi carer home
- Could live with 13 + teenagers, who do NOT want a cuddly cat
- Could be left a working day
- Home without cats and dogs
- Will need a room to settle into at least for a few days, so she can gradually intergrate with the rest of the home and the family
