Squid is a lovable, gentle fellow although he can get rather over-excited when in the throes of catnip ecstasy. This recently-neutered boy loves being made a fuss of and settled in happily straight away upon his arrival at Battersea.

We test all cats for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus when they first come in, and Squid has tested positive. It looks as though he got more than just that nick in his ear from one particular cat fight. FIV is a slow-acting virus and most infected cats live healthy and happy lives for many years. In order to protect the cat population at large from the risk of catching it and to preserve the health of the carrier, we rehome our FIV+ cats to indoor homes.

As Squid is a young cat and used to having the freedom of outdoors, he will need a home with some kind of outdoor access, preferably a roof terrace or an enclosed courtyard. Ideally, his people should not be out for a long working day as he will need to be kept entertained. Due to his playful good nature, he could live with children aged ten and over as they can help with the entertainment duties.

If you think you could offer Squid the kind of home he needs, please come in to Battersea to register or leave a message for Ros on 020 7627 9234 or email: [email protected]. Prospective owners will need to speak to a Battersea vet prior to rehoming.

Please note that there are many cats in the Home and in our satellite sites of all ages, shapes, sizes and personalities and we are only able to feature a small selection on the web.
