Firstly garfield does not look anywhere near as grumpy as his picture, he is a very sweet loving boy, who loves being fussed and cannot simply get enough even if he is having a brush he still dribbles and loves to tread his feet for you! When you leave garfield he can be vocally demanding for you to come back, hopefully this will calm down in a home!!, he simply loves company.
Garfield has lived as a stray for quite sometime and has obviously got into a few scraps in his time as a result he has tested posistive for FIV, which means we can only rehome him as an indoor cat, on his own.

FIV is a cat-specific (cannot be transfered to humans) virus that attacks the immune system, which is why garfield will need to be kept indoors so his chances of picking up an illness is minimum, and also so that he does not pass the virus onto other cats. FIV cats can live for many years provided they are kept indoors, and fed a good diet, regularly wormed and flea treated as well as given their yearly vaccinations. Any infections need to be seen quickly by a vet, as the immune system is depleted so a watchful owner who is happy to take garfield to the vets if he has any illnesses is a must.

Garfield is looking for the following things in his home :

* Experienced cat owners

* House hold with no other cats

* Could be left 1/2 a working day

* Could live with children 8+

* Plenty of stimulation as he is going to be kept indoors i.e scratching posts, lots of toys, etc

* Regular visits to the vets

Anyone interested in rehoming Garfield will need to have a chat with one of our vets about the FIV.

If you think you could offer garfeild a home please call Battersea at Brands Hatch on 01474 874994 and speak to one of the cattery staff.
