arrived on: 13/04/02 OUR LONGEST STAY DOG!

With boxer bounce and energy to burn this lad will make a huge impact on you!

Oscar is a 2-year-old brindle X boxer male he came into Battersea in May 2002 as a stray and is now our longest stay dog.

Oscar has a great personality but a few behavioural problems that our rehabilitation team have looked at...These include:

Handling and restraint issues ? Oscar has a very high energy drive and gets frustrated easily. He needs to have a lot of patient guidance from his new owners to be taught how to enjoy handling and how to relax.

Over stimulated attention seeking and Potential destructiveness. With all his energy he desperately needs owners who have the patience to teach him acceptable behaviours and also acceptable ways to have fun. Oscar may need an area to spend time alone in while learning the rules and routine of his new home (avoiding any opportunities to get into mischief mean while)

Socialising with other dogs ? Oscar can get way too enthusiastic about playing with other dogs. Not all of his boisterious play is appreciated by other dogs. He will need a a group of friendly and well behaved dogs to make friends with and learn to relax around them.

We are looking for a Semi-rural to rural home for Oscar. A garden will be important, as he will need plenty of training and release of energy in a secure environment.

Oscar's new owners should have ?hands on? experience of boxers, bull terriers or large working breeds they need to be prepared of the time and energy that Oscar will take up and be enthusiastic, active but composed. Adults only as we will not place Oscar with young children due to his behaviour problems. Oscar is not for cats or small animals

If you have a sense of humour and feel you can work on the above problems. Then have a chat with our rehomers about Oscar. The behaviourists here at Battersea will offer guidance and training on his problems and how to prevent and overcome them. Oscar has a larger than life character and owners will have a lot of fun with him but first the right relationship needs to be established and a lot of guidance will be essential. The lad will keep you on your toes!
