He came in via the dog warden & he was frustrated on lead around other dogs. After initial assessments he was referred to the rehab department for this reason.
Manson is very stressed in kennels & is finding life hard here, he uses his toys especially tennis balls as a stress release & is constantly holding onto them. As he is very obsessed with them we have used them to gain control over his behaviour on lead. He will walk with his tennis ball in his mouth so he can't be reactive or rag on his lead. He gets very stressed if he can't hold something in his mouth, so new owners will need to be able to do a similar thing. He is looking for a semi-rural home which has a low dog population, although he is very good with dogs off lead he would much rather play & interact with his owner. He also has problems with being left alone, so new owners must be prepared to put in a lot of work to build up the time he can be left as he will be destructive. Both these problems are redeemable if the advice & programmes are followed that our rehab team will give you. New owners must be robust & used to being around powerful, strong dogs, & preferably have large dog experience. He is not for children or visiting due to his size / strength and also because he can get frustrated easily. New owners must have time, energy & enthusiasm to keep up with him & if they put the effort in they will have a great companion who will be faithful & loving.
