Mongrel

- Tends to be healthier than breed dogs
- Few hereditary problems
- Unique in appearance
The Mongrel tends to be more healthy than some specific breeds, as they rarely suffer from hereditary problems. However, a cross-breed can always inherit medical and behaviour characteristics if he has one or two dominant breeds in his make-up.
The Mongrel is as intelligent as any other dog and is equally capable of doing well at obedience, agility and other sports.
The mongrel ranges in size, characteristics and coat types, so you have a wide range to pick from and you can be sure that your dog will be unique in appearance.

If you have chosen a cross-breed then you can research the origins of that particular breed. However, if your mongrel is a bit of everything, then your guess is as good as ours.

Once you have decided what size mongrel is best suited to your environment, and the type of mentality you're searching for, then you are halfway there.
Like any breed of dog, it is important to continually socialise him and remember he also needs stimulation and training.
Most rescue environments will have a variety of mixed breeds and mongrels, and there's usually one that will fit your requirements.
