Great St Bernard Trek

9-14 August 2008

Follow in the footsteps of the Great St Bernard on the oldest Alpine pass, where history and legend go together and hiking takes another dimension. This is your chance to be part of a small group that will discover the secrets of the Great St Bernard and follow the route that was once used by the armies of Hannibal, Julius Caesar, Charlemagne and Napolean.

You'll also spend a night in the hospice inhabited by monks for almost a millenium, monks that made famous the St Bernard dogs for saving the lives of travellers and pilgrims.

Dog Sledding in the Arctic

You'll be surrounded by a frozen landscape 300 miles north of the Arctic Circle with only the sound of the panting of the Alaskan huskies and crunching of the snow under the sled's runners for company.

As a member of a 13-strong team you will be given expert training in dog sledding. You will be instructed on how to handle your team of dogs and how to negotiate a sled through some of the most exceptional terrain in the world.
