Nothing brings greater joy to the staff at The Dogs Home
than the sight of Battersea dogs and cats leaving the Home
happy with their new owners.

Letter from...Holly's owners
Holly only spent a week at Battersea, She was brought in after her owner died, and luckily for me anyway, there was no one else to look after her. I spied her almost straight away and grabbed her card as there was quite a lit of interest in her! Myself and my flatmate Charlie could tell she was an affectionate, sociable cat - she tried to push her faace over the door of her cage to have her face rubbed and sat on my lap when she was let out of her cage - not bad tactics for a cat looking for a home! Holly has been with me for three months now but settled in very quickly, becoming more confident each week. She is so loveable, and always has a purr or ten for the string of visitors who have been round to view her. She sleeps on my bed every night, has found lolts of warm, cosy hiding places in the flat and enjoys her garden and exploring outside. She is an adorable little cat who helps advertise this special charity by wearing her 'I was cared for at Battersea' Identity tag. |

Letter from...Sasha's owners
I've been in my new home for a few months now and after a few behavioural
problems, (well I didn't want to make it too easy for them!) and
a few obedience classes I have settled in perfectly with my new
family. My Mum says I have a wonderful personality and am a really
beautiful dog, aren't I lucky to be so loved. Hope you like the
photo that's me at my cutest! |

Letter from...Charlie's owners
As you can see from the photo Charlie has gone to live with a lively
family where his happy new owners say: "Charlie is wonderful,
the boys think he is the best dog in the world. He was underweight
when we first got him but has doubled his weight in 3 weeks! We've
been to training classes and he was perfect for the trainer but
surprisingly not always for me! He is such a friendly dog with
people and other dogs and his best friend is a 2 year old St.
Bernard! Thank you so much for looking after him when he needed
it. We definitely chose the right dog. |

Letter from...Cheu-Cheu's owners
When Cheu-Cheu went to his new home, he was very nervous at first
and was obviously not used to being out on his own. But luckily
he has a very patient owner, who says " After a bit of persuasion
we now go "walkies" together around the garden. Cheu-Cheu follows
me everywhere indoors and I know he thinks a lot of me but he's
not one for too much attention, he loves to play with his toys
and has his favourite chair as you can see from the photo!" I
think you'll all agree what a lucky c e is!

Letter from...Urcher's owners
Iarrived at The Home on 6th Feb 1995 and was there the longest
that any other dog has been at Battersea - 2 years I thought I'd
be there forever! That was until I was put on PET RESCUE in October 1997 where my new Mum & Dad saw me and couldn't resist
my good looks, so after a couple of visits to The Home with their
dog Bella, another Lurcher, they rehomed me! I've now been in
my new home for about six months and I absolutely love it, my
new Mum & Dad are great and I think they are really happy with
me. |

Letter from...Buster's owners
Iarrived at The Home on 3rd Feb 1997, so I had been at Battersea
a long time, I don't know why because I think I'm quite cute,
I am a bit nervous though so it probably put people off. Luckily
I was put on PET RESCUE, where I was chosen by a really nice couple who fell for me.
I was rehomed in Feb 1998 and I can't believe my luck, I live
in a really big house, go for long walks with my Mum and Dad who
are great even though I was a bit funny with my Dad at first but
now I love him, I get the feeling they are pretty happy with me
as well.
This is what my new Mum and Dad have said about me:
"Thank you for letting us have Buster - he is the light of our
lives! He seems very intelligent and learns very quickly. His
confidence is growing all the time and we love him to bits! Thank
everyone concerned for keeping his spirits up so well for so long!" |

Letter from...Desmond's owners
I arrived at The Home on 12th March 1996 much to my dismay - I was
absolutely petrified of everyone and everything. They tried to
put me in a kennel but I wasn't happy about it so they took me
up to the offices where I grew more confident every day, it was
a long process but I got there in the end. I was The Dogs Home
mascot and I made some very good friends while I was there but
they felt I had been there long enough so I too went on PET RESCUE, well I had the biggest number of calls for any animal that had
been on the Pet Rescue Appeal - 1300 of you decided I was the
one for you. They eventually wittled it down to just one. My new
home is great, I have settled in really well with them and my
new friend Barney who is also an 'ex-Battersea' dog, so we have
something in common. He's older than me and shows me what to do
because I get a bit confused sometimes. This is what my new owners
have said about me: "Desmond has settled in with us surprising
well and has made such good friends with our other dog Barney
- who thinks it is great to have a playmate. Des have certainly
got a routine going, which starts every morning at 6am with him
wandering round the house finding things to bring into the bedroom
and onto the bed - shoes, t-shirts, towels, papers whatever he
can get in his mouth! He is not always greeted with a pat on the
head at that time! We wouldn't swap him for the world now though,
we love him to bits, I can't say that about the postman though,
Des barked at him the other day and made him jump, well he's got
to practice on someone now he's found his bark!! Thank you for
letting us have such a special dog"
