Nothing brings greater joy to the staff at The Dogs Home
than the sight of Battersea dogs and cats leaving the Home
happy with their new owners.

Letter from...Java's owners
The lovely Java has gone to live in Windsor with her new family.
This is what they said about her "She has fitted in to our lives
as if she had been here since a puppy. Our children adore her
and our lives have changed for the better. She spends most of
her day chasing rabbits and squirrels around the Royal Park. She
is totally 'potty' and is very happy with us. Thank you for all
the good work that you do, keep it up". I think you'll all agree
she is a much loved dog. |

Letter from...Emily's owners
Emily's good looks certainly won her new owners over, as they came
to Battersea looking for a smallish, young, male dog and came
away with a biggish, older, female dog! Here is what they said
about her "We could not have asked for better, she is loving,
obedient, enormously entertaining and highly intelligent, her
vet thinks she has the most fantastic facial expressions and always
make a fuss of her. My partner and I are getting married in September
and Emily is acting as bridesmaid. I know you must receive thousands
of letters to tell you how wonderful your dogs are, but Emily
is special. She took two independent, professional individuals
and turned us into a family - thank you" |

Letter from...Ben
Since Ben has left Battersea, he has had lots of adventures...."I
began my new life in London walking with Steve in the park a lot,
but Steve soon became fed up of City life so we moved to Cumbria,
much to my delight, where I developed a passion for fell walking
and hanging around in country pubs! We lived there for 5 months,
then it was on to Scotland, as far North as you can go where I
did some mountain climbing and learnt to be a working dog, rounding
up the lamb and ewes. I'm having a great time and I couldn't have
picked a better owner - thanks for letting him rehome me!" |

Letter from...Indigo's owners
As you can see from the photo, Indigo looks very, very happy in
his new home. I think his new owner is really pleased with him,
she said "I have had Indigo for a month now, he's lovely! I really
can't understand why or how anyone could not want such a wonderful
dog. He settled in pretty quickly and I feel as if I've already
had him for years. I'm so proud of him, when I call and he's way
behind, I'll stretch my arms out and he comes racing towards me,
wagging his tail and I make a big fuss of him, he brings me so
much joy. He loves attention and can never get enough of it -
he's like a big teddy. If I allowed him, he'd probably approach
every single stranger in the street asking to be stroked (regardless
of whether or not they liked him!) I think he's pretty happy -
I hope! I love him so much, he's like a big baby, he lays on his
back grinning at me wanting me to tickle his tummy! He's huge
(1/2 my size), yet such a gentle giant. I'm so glad I chose him."
Isn't Indigo a very lucky Greyhound! |

Letter from...Bobby "the long stayers" owners
You may remember Bobby from our Long Stay dogs we have on the Net.
He had been here a very long time, so we put him on PET RESCUE and he got a lovely new home in Sussex, we were all sad to see
him go as he was such a sweetie, but glad that he found such a
lovely family. His new owners have written to us and sent some
photos, they said "Bobby's big test was the car journey home,
but he was as good as gold. I didn't want to leave him alone at
night so he spent Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in our bedroom, then
he decided to sleep downstairs on his rug and that is where he
has been ever since. He is such a delight, each day brings out
more of his character, he speaks to me and groans when it's time
to go for walkies! He seems to be content and watches TV with
me and keeps my feet warm. He really is such a loving dog, I adore
him. We would both like to thank you for taking such good care
of him, he has really become a sweetheart ( I bet you already
knew that!)" - we certainly did! |

Poem from...Norman's owners
Norman was at The Home for a long time, he was very nervous of
people and didn't like it in his kennel, so everyone passed him
by. After being fostered for a while by one of the office staff,
Norman appeared on PET RESCUE and luckily was spotted by Linda and David who fell in love with
him straight away. He has settled into his new home really well
and is obviously much loved by his new owners. This is a poem
that Linda sent to us about Norman.................
"What a jewel! what sweet perfection -
This kind natured dog.
He has it all - he has been blessed by the Creator,
From the tip of that dear wet nose
To that handsome brush,
And those pretty feet, touched with snow.
The Autumn leaves would pale beside his russett coat,
Where Night ran her fingers along that fox-like form.
And all that beauty still itself is paled,
By all the loveliness in that dear heart,
And in those kind and gentle ways.
You have graced us with your presence,
Trusted us with your love,
In these few days since we brought you home."
What a lucky dog Norman is!
