Nothing brings greater joy to the staff at The Dogs Home
than the sight of Battersea dogs and cats leaving the Home
happy with their new owners.

L etter from.... Basil's owners

"Basil is having a whale of a time, he thinks he has won the lottery with his new surroundings! He has bonded to us marvellously in the time we have had him and settled down quicker than we thought. We take him on Salisbury Plain for his exercise twice a day and he runs free till he drops! He has no trouble with his food now and is putting on weight and we're sure he seems to be growing in height. I'm sure you must miss Basil which we understand as he is a lovely dog and it makes us sad at times to think of his past life and we try to make it up to him with lots of attention and affection. Don't every worry about him as he is spoilt to death and we feel very lucky to have chosen him. Love to all the Basil friends at Battersea."

Letter from... Jack's owners

"Dear All, finally a note to let you know how Jack is getting on. He settled in straight away and as yo ucan see has found somewhere comfy to sleep - No! he does not rule us!! Her walks off the lead and comes back when called. His latest love is the sea and can now paddle quite happily although has not taken the real plunge yet. He has met many other dogs and has coped remarkably well showing no really nasty tendencies at all. He eats well and has lost his lean and hungry look, although he's still very sleek!! I now have to hoover far more frequently so he's brushed often too! His only disadvantage is that he's a very early riser so we are walking at 5.45am!! Thank you so much for our Jack."

Letter from... Merv's owners

" Dear All, here is a picture of our fabulous dog - Merv. He has been absolutely dreamy - not one problem since we got him. He has the best nature and we take him out to things, barbies, parties etc as often as possible so he can socialise - which he does very well. Thank you for letting us have him - we'll be back for another one!!"

Letter from... Billy

"Thank you for looking after me and finding me a good home. When my Mum and Dad got me I was very ill, I had fluid on my lungs and could hardly breathe. I had to go to the vets four times, they didn't think I would pull through but my Mum put me in bed with them every night, until I was better and my virus was gone. They thought I was really good the first couple of weeks, but that was because I was ill, so after I recovered I ate the passage carpet because they went shopping without me, I've only done a few naughty things, but they love me so much they forgive me. I'm doing obedience classes because I run off when I get let off the lead when I see a girl dog. My best friend is Sam (my Uncle) I love playing with him in my Nan and Granddad's garden."
Billy's owners said "thanks for giving us Billy. He's a lovely dog and you can be sure he's being looked after properly, we love him to bits."

Letter from... Banana and Custard's owners

"Banana charges and bounces around the garden. He is always going bananas! He loves the outdoor life now that he has mastered the tricky art of going through the cat flap (which he often insists on doing still, even when the door is open!) Despite being a medallion-man with his Battersea medal, a phone number charm and a bell around his neck, he is still an accomplished bird catcher and unfortunately often brings home presents for us! Custard is a bit of a coward despite his size. We had a few problems when we first got him. For several days we couldn't find him and thought that he'd escaped somehow. We then noticed small black footprints on the carpet and realised that he was living inside the chimney, only coming down at night for food. After fixing that problem he has settled down with us very well. He now has a favourite chair (he sleeps in it when he is adventurous and under it when he's nervous). He has not yet ventured outside, but does love lying on the carpet in the sunshine. Thank you for two super additions to our household.

Letter from... Trixy

"Hello, I would like to thank you all for taking great care of me during my stay with you after my nightmare on the streets. I now live in a nice house with a big garden and I have two big fields nearby where I go three times a day. I've got loads of new toys and two lovely girls to play with. Between you, the kennel and me, I can proudly say that I've landed on my paws here. Well, I will paws for now and look forward to seeing you at the Reunion in September. Bye for now."
Love Trixy
