In March 1995, The Home set up a special training programme for dogs with specific behavioural problems. After visits and advice by Britain's top behaviourists, this department is now running full time, attempting to cure dogs of certain behaviour problems before they are rehomed, and also providing special advice to new owners. This seems to be working well and is improving the 'rehomability' of certain dogs. When you come into The Home to choose a dog, you'll get really good advice on the particular needs of your dog from the expert rehoming staff...some breeds definitely require a firmer approach than others, and Battersea dogs with damaged psyches from their bad past experiences may need special attention.
